Improvements

The hall has been significantly upgraded during the ownership to include the following: Internal walls were insulated then lined with OSB and painted in fire retardant paint. The ceilings were improved in the reception, office, kitchen and toilet accommodation. A new kitchen and toilets have been totally re-built and upgraded. The original timber casement windows have been replaced in sealed UPVC units, with wrought iron security bars as directed by the Local Law Courts for entertainments licence. The windows to the main dance hall were blocked up to prevent sound transfer to neighbours. The owner has installed a commercial electrical distribution board for the three phase electricity to supply power for air conditioning units, two gas boilers (hot water and central heating), changing the lights to LED. Emergency lighting and complying with fire regulations.

Services

Mains electricity, mains water & drainage, gas fired central heating and hot water and air conditioning units.

Car-parking

There is space to park seven cars around the entrance. The owners have an agreement with the Military Club opposite, whereby customers pay to park in the car-park after 6pm. In the day time the car-park is run by the City Council so anyone can park subject to paying the parking fees.

Current Hours of Trade

The current business house are 4 days per week with morning and evening and twice monthly Saturday night dances. There is no restriction to use the hall in the day and evening seven days per week if new owner wanted to do so.

Licensing

The owner also has an entertainments club licence which includes the bar, a “freehouse” meaning he buys alcohol from a cash & carry or supermarket. The operating hours are similar to a Public House.

Fire Regulation

The club can currently have up-to 100 customers on the existing layout. If a ramp was installed and a second Fire Door re-opened / installed to the front, it has been suggested they could accommodate 200 people. The location of the ramp would take away on-site car-parking. There is a south facing access corridor for a Fire Door, with a wrought-iron gate used to secure the boundaries when the hall is not in use.
