We'd viewed quite a few properties when we were looking for our first flat to buy, and when we viewed this one, we instantly knew it was the one for us.

We love the amount of space you immediately felt as you stepped inside from the handy porch (which we've learned is brilliant for messy shoes and wet coats), the fact it has it's own front door and how the light shone in through the bay windows. We loved the 60's style serving hatch in the kitchen, the good sized garden and the fact that the bedrooms were both a decent size.

The living space (being bigger than others we'd seen) meant it was perfect for entertaining, which we do a lot of. We've now used our furniture to create two separate areas, one specific to dining and one for living.

The kitchen, although compact was perfect for us, giving us enough prep space to cook and the hatch means you can do it socially when we've guests over, sharing a wine.

The garden is very big and is lovely to step out on to for a morning coffee, and to have friends over in the summer for barbeques and get togethers.

It always attracts a lot of sunshine too, and the large paved area easily fits a big table, chairs and the BBQ itself.

The mature trees at the end of the garden help to make it feel private and it's as if we're surrounded by nature. Since we've lived here the garden has offered us the tranquillity you need for respite when living in inner London.

The local area has been perfect for us. The high street although close isn't heard from the flat or garden. Everything is so accessible and Sydenham Overground station just a few minutes walk while Penge East at the other end of the road. It means that we can get around London really easily. London Bridge (in about 15 minutes), however you can also reach Croydon (15 minutes), Brixton (12 minutes). Clapham Junction (20 Minutes), Victoria (25 minutes), Canada Water (for a change to the Jubilee Line 20 minutes), Shoreditch (25 minutes), Fenchurch Street (30 minutes), Highbury & Islington (35 minutes) and Charing Cross (28 minutes) - which is amazing!

We love the local independent book shop, Blackbird bakery, as well as the great pubs, The Greyhound and The Dolphin both serving really good food and always having nice relaxed atmospheres, but always busy too.

It's been amazing to be able to walk to Crystal Palace park, as well as the smaller but gorgeous (and award winning) Mayow Park. Both are great places to get some air and exercise.

We're also close to Forest Hill, the Horniman museum, and the beautiful Sydenham Woods, all perfect for a Sunday morning wander.

There is a wonderful community vibe in Sydenham, especially amongst our really friendly and helpful neighbours.

Other positives are the free parking on the road, the handy storage space under the stairs.

It's been a wonderful place to live over the years and we're reluctant to have to sell however a change in family circumstances means that we need to relocate.
