The property is in a small cul-de-sac in Vigo village which has a unique setting in the middle of chestnut woodland at the top of the North Downs, east of the road between Gravesend and Wrotham. Next to the village is Trosley Country Park, which forms part of the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is in the Borough of Gravesham and It takes its name from a 15th-century public house (now closed), which was renamed in the 18th century after the Battle of Vigo Bay. While a nearby hamlet named Vigo was recorded on an 18th-century map, the present village was built in the mid-20th century. It has local shops and a popular primary school. Borough Green station is about 3 miles to the south, with Meopham about 3.5 miles to the north. There are local bus services and good road links to the M20/M26 and in turn to the M25 providing access to London, the Coast and Ebbsfleet International.
